Summary:

The Facilities and Maintenance Technician must possess the desire and ability to perform maintenance and repair of all brewing, packaging, and plant equipment and systems. This is a full-time, on-site position located in San Diego, CA.

Facilities and Maintenance Technician responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair brewery & packaging equipment related problems. 
  • Assist with developing and implementing Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs, SOP’s, and training documentation.  
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, identify common failure items, and source parts as needed.
  • Assist in training other maintenance technicians, team leads, and operators on proper operation of all brewing and packaging machinery as needed using Coronado Brewing Company SOP’s.
  • Contribute and commit to our safety-first culture.
  • Ability to drive company vehicles to pick up supplies and/or equipment as needed.
  • Ensure maintenance and shop areas are clean and always organized. Ensure proper cleanup after completed maintenance work.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in brewing, packaging, and support equipment.  
  • Observe equipment in operation to prevent/diagnose potential problems. Identify and/or suggest solutions to equipment and facility issues with management.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to execute planned repairs, installations, expansions and upgrades.
  • Facilitate and foster a teamwork-oriented philosophy.
  • Provide on and off-hour emergency response for all CBC sites including equipment repair, damage control, and assignment of support personnel as needed.
  • Assist with hazardous waste disposal programs, bulk recycling needs, and general facility deep cleaning activities.
  • Assist with production work and other projects as needed.

Facilities and Maintenance Technician qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience performing maintenance on production equipment.
  • Mechanically inclined with equipment operation experience and strong ability to troubleshoot.
  • Experience with high-speed packaging equipment (brewery or beverage experience is strongly preferred), specifically a rotary filler and seamer.
  • Knowledge of critical path equipment, such as a high-pressure boiler, glycol system, compressed gas systems, wastewater systems, and general plant upkeep. 
  • Mechanical and electrical backgrounds can serve as relevant experience. 
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company, and have a strong work ethic and self-starting attitude. 
  • High degree of passion for quality, process improvement, and attention to detail.
  • Strong physical ability – able to service equipment in tight or awkward spaces, sometimes requiring bending, reaching, crouching, crawling.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Must have valid CA driver’s license.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, calculate percentages, perform minor algebra and geometry. Ability to perform these operations using units of American and Metric weight measurement, volume, and distance.
